This film, made in 1974, was conceived and produced through the Media 361 Film Production course as part of the Humanities Division of Medgar Evers College. It features classroom activities, music by Curtis Mayfield, and emphasizes the original commitment to excellence of the college where education is planned and established by the people of the community of Central Brooklyn.
Both this and the film, “A New Day”, are rare glimpses into the early years of our academic institution and offer insight into the goals and aspirations that make our college so special. As we look back over the last fifty years and reflect on the accomplishments of this institution and the community we serve, it is important to use these films in historical research and embolden our students with a strong sense of history and excellence in scholarship. These films are our heritage and serve as artifacts for the future.
