An audiovisual collection of past events, lectures, and moments from Medgar Evers College over the years - from 1970 to now.

About

The Special Collections currently contain rare books, periodicals, newspapers, pamphlets, audiovisual materials, etc., relating to several subject areas: the African American Experience of the Diaspora; Southern Africa from the 1960s to 1980s; the African and Caribbean heritage. These materials are listed in the library catalog and can be used in-house only.

College Archives

The repository collects records that chronicle the history and academic achievements of the College and University as well as unpublished materials of historical value generated by remarkable people and organizations.

As soon as an archival collection has been processed, a link to its finding aid is added (see Archival Collections in the right-hand menu). A finding aid provides information about the collection, such as its origin, contents, size, media, and arrangement.

Links to MEC historical videos and selected photographs are provided on this page.

The Archives seeks to make its holdings as widely accessible as possible, and for this sake we are digitizing the most valuable and/or fragile objects and create both physical and electronic exhibits and displays (see Online Exhibits).

Reference and research assistance is offered Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. To request materials from Archives/Special Collections, please contact Professor Yelena Novitskaya by email: ynovitskaya@mec.cuny.edu or telephone: 718-270-4889.
